The Elvie Rise was named TIME Magazine's Best Invention of 2025. That is a bold claim for a baby bouncer. But after using it for three months, I understand exactly why it won.

This is not a bouncer. It is a sleep transfer machine.

What Is the Elvie Rise?

The Elvie Rise is a smart bouncer that uses what Elvie calls SootheLoop™ technology — a combination of gentle rocking motion, vibration, and white noise that responds to your baby's movements in real time. When your baby stirs, it adjusts automatically to keep them settled.

What makes it different from every other bouncer on the market is this: it is designed specifically to solve the transfer problem. You know the one. You spend 45 minutes rocking your baby to sleep, you gently lower them into the bassinet, and the moment their back touches the mattress — they wake up. Screaming.

The Elvie Rise eliminates that moment. You put your baby in the Rise, it settles them to sleep, and they stay asleep in the Rise. No transfer needed.

What I Loved

The transfer problem is genuinely solved. My son used to wake up every single time I tried to move him. With the Elvie Rise, he falls asleep in it and stays asleep. I can eat dinner. I can shower. I can sit on the sofa like a human being.

It is whisper quiet. The motor is almost completely silent. I have used it in the same room while my baby sleeps and it does not disturb him at all.

The app gives you real control. You can adjust the motion intensity, the sound level, and the rocking speed from your phone. You do not have to lean over a sleeping baby to change the settings.

It grows with your baby. The Elvie Rise works from birth up to 9 kg (around 20 lbs), which is significantly longer than most bouncers.

What to Know Before You Buy

It is not cheap. At $599, it is at the premium end of the bouncer market. But compared to the SNOO, it is significantly more affordable and covers a longer age range.

It requires a power outlet. Unlike some bouncers that run on batteries, the Elvie Rise needs to be plugged in. This limits where you can use it slightly.
